Spring Fair

Hi, it has been a long time. Just in the process of fulfilling orders made at Spring Fair. So looking forward to the spring, and I cannot believe that March is already upon us. We have also been adding a few more new items on our website.unique unusual gift ideas  I am also looking forward to a well earned break in the South of France. A couple days in Nice and then a trip to La Souterraine in order to check out an ongoing barn conversion project. After that its back to the grindstone for  a few months. This will be punctuated by a fitness weekender at the Marriot Hotel in Leicester on 1st April.

We also hope to spend time in Benimantell, Spain We had a fabulous time there last year, and was able to sample the delights of both the mountains and the sea.

What are you planning for the summer?

Fresh from Kerala in India and on to Top Drawer Spring 2016

Just got back from a fabulous holiday in Kerala, South India. We stayed in Kochi at the fantastic Gateway Hotel Marine Drive  As well as basking in temperatures of over 85 degrees we visited the Backwater s of Allepey, but was unable to hire a Houseboat (must book early) However, this place is like no other place i have visited and is one of the most beautiful and tranquil places on earth. I will definitely be heading back there in the future.  However, I am back and looking forward to attending Top Drawer at Olympia from 17 to 19th Jan. We will be on stand 737. Please drop by and say hello. Of course we will be showing off our Upcycled Jewellery and Homeware  Look forward to seeing you there. In the meantime take care.

Something for the weekend?

How is it going folks? I am currently looking at Hotels in Kerala. (cant wait) Vivanta by Taj sounds good to me. This will not be a business trip but who knows what connections you can make whilst on holiday. Last time we were in India, we bought some fantastic jewellery at ridiculously low prices. Hope to do the same again this year. Also hope to find some unique unusual gift ideas such as what we have at monkey shirley's

Indian Summer

Unlike yesterday, which was rainy, today is  a nice sunny day here in the South East. Its hard to believe that we are actually in October. May this continue up until the weekend when i make my weekly trip to the Brick Lane area of London. Here i can eat food from all over the world and shop for weird and quirky things. You can also check out Cafe 1001. Oh and by the way you can check out Monkey Shirley in the Sunday Upmarket also.

Is it too early to talk about Xmas?

Hi there, I know that you organised people are already looking at buying gifts for friends and loved ones. I am afraid I have not started yet. However, I need to get a move on. I am also in the process of packing orders from our TOP Drawer and Autumn Fair shows. In addition to this we are flying out to India for the Xmas period. Unfortunately, our cherubs will not be flying out with us as they have 'better things to do' ???
It is a strange thing not being in blighty for crimbo. But hey we have to broaden our horizon and experiences. So it will be interesting to see how Xmas will be celebrated in beautiful Kerala. So those of you who wish to order from Monkey Shirley best get a move on.

Bye for now!

Secret Garden Party

Secret Garden Party

This summer we had the pleasure of selling at the SGP Festival near Cambridge. This was a great festival, which although started rainy with lots of mud for the first two days, it became nice and warm with lots of things to do. Of course we set up our tent and stall with a view to providing those Gardeners with fabulous Unique Unusual Gift Ideas Due to the rain and the mud, business was slow for the first two days. However, the last two days saw brisk business. SGP is a wonderful festival whose theme this year was Standing on Ceremony. The participants did their utmost best to fit in with this theme and there were some fabulous costumes on show. The fire works display on the lake was fantastic, and a set by Orbital was out of this world. Will be there again next year.......

Blessed is the land of Mozambique
for this where you were first concieved.
A beautiful journey through time has
brought you to my reality.
I taste your thigh, I ask my self why?
my mouth burns so sweet.
A sensation
so strange invokes a latent spirit within
a golden sarcophagus that lay hitherto motionless.
Through a fault of San Andreas proportions,
tectonic plates of emotions transmit shockwaves throughout every living tissue ,
I take a deep breath.
A mathmos of passion bubbles beneath a wafer like crust of consciousness,
erupting through a fissure and forming a hot geyser of realisation.
Your taste is a key of divine specification,
unlocking a portal to days of yore,

This is a poem i made a while ago. This has nothing to do with Monkey Shirley but its all about creativity !
